Unique collaboration between The Wine Guild of the United Kingdom and Académie du Vin Library brings author-led tasting experiences that brings together wine, knowledge and conversation.

The Wine Guild of the United Kingdom has announced a collaboration with Académie du Vin Library to bring some of the wine world’s finest writers off the pages and in front of new audiences of wine enthusiasts.

More than a book club or tasting series, The Literary Cellar offers an immersive wine experience. Each event combines bespoke masterclasses and guided tastings led by the authors of Académie du Vin’s latest titles, giving guests a rare opportunity to taste wines, learn directly from the experts and take home a signed copy of their book. Every masterclass explores the book’s key themes in depth, along with a themed wine tasting and Q&A that bring the author’s words to life with every sip.

Académie du Vin Library’s Managing Director and Publisher, Hermione Ireland, says of the venture with the Wine Guild: “This is a great collaboration that creates the opportunity to bring some of the wine world’s most renowned authors to wine enthusiasts. There’s nothing more inspiring than to hear from the authors themselves to enhance the enjoyment and appreciation of wine.

“We are really looking forward to bringing these wonderful books to life through these unique tasting opportunities.”

The Literary Cellar is the latest development for the Wine Guild’s programme of activities under its new management, whose aim is to offer accessible, well-priced opportunities and experiences for the curious wine drinker, working with their network of wine experts.

Guild Chairman, Tal Sunderland-Cohen, describes The Literary Cellar as “One of the Guild’s proudest recent collaborations … imagine sipping a glass of Barolo whilst the author discusses the mystique of Nebbiolo – it’s a book club, only far more delicious”.

Following the highly successful inaugural Literary Cellar event last month, featuring Sunny Hodge, author of the recently-published The Cynic’s Guide to Wine, the next session is on Wednesday November 12: Discover Switzerland’s Six Wine Regions with Simon Hardy, co-author of Switzerland: The Smart Traveller’s Wine Guide (published September 2025)

Future sessions will include:

Alex Maltman, Taste the Limestone, Smell the Slate. Winter 2025
Sarah Jane Evans MW, The Wines of Central and Southern Spain. Spring 2026
Natasha Hughes MW, The Wines of Beaujolais. Spring 2026

Tickets can be purchased via the Wine Guild’s website and open to all, with discounted rates available for Wine Guild members.
