An Unforgettable English Sabrage Experience

It was a unique occasion for the Wine Guild, held together with our friends from The Society of the Silver Sword, and with the generous support of our esteemed friend Kevin Sutherland, who supplied the evening with the remarkable and elegant Hindleap 2013 Classic Cuvée.
Event Outcome
Each participant had the opportunity to raise a sabre and successfully remove the head of a bottle of English sparkling wine. Remarkably, everyone managed to accomplish this feat on their very first attempt.
The entire event was expertly guided by Chris Noon, who provided fascinating background on the tradition and showed us all that sabrage is achieved not through force, but through a confident and well-directed sweep of the blade.
I very much hope that this memorable evening will become a recurring tradition within the Wine Guild.
